Orlando Ramos has been endorsed by several members of the Springfield School Committee. The official announcement was made at a Press Conference held at his campaign headquarters located at 222 Main Street Indian Orchard on Friday October 28th. School Committee vice-chair Denise Hurst (At-Large), former vice-chair Norman Roldan (Wards 1 & 3), Peter Murphy (Wards 2 & 8), and Barbara Gresham (Wards 4 & 5) announced that they are endorsing Orlando Ramos for City Council Ward 8.

“Education will be one of my top priorities on the City Council. I have a plan to propose a 5-point initiative to help reduce the drop-out rate in the City of Springfield. My plan includes parental involvement, suspension reduction, school and community collaboration, safe learning environments, and after school opportunities” said Ramos.

Orlando Ramos has dedicated hundreds of hours to community service—many of those hours working with the youth. Most recently, Ramos helped organize the 2nd annual Back 2 School Fair to help over 700 low-to-moderate income families from Springfield and the surrounding areas by providing them with free school supplies.

“I’m humbled to have received their support. It’s a testament to my commitment to education. To me, education is an investment—not an expense! I believe that in order to strengthen our effort to build a better future for this city, we have to prepare tomorrow’s workforce. We can do this by investing in our school system.”
