Orlando Ramos

Candidate for Ward 8 Springfield City Council

Candidate Orlando Ramos Issues Challenge

Orlando Ramos—candidate for City Council Ward 8—is challenging the incumbent to at least three live debates to take place in three different neighborhoods in the ward. Ward 8 is made up of Indian Orchard, as well as parts of Pine Point, East Springfield, Sixteen Acres, and the Boston Road neighborhoods. Ramos says it would make sense to hold these debates in different neighborhoods in order to give all of the residents an opportunity to attend. “I think that the voters deserve the opportunity to hear directly from both candidates and ask questions—in order for them to be able to make an informed decision on who to vote for come November. It is my hope that my opponent will accept the challenge.” Ramos will be contacting the Neighborhood Councils and other organizations that may be suited to host the debates.

In addition, Ramos is challenging the incumbent to a clean, issue-based campaign. “I am a man of faith; I intent to run a positive campaign—as I did the last time—and I would like to challenge my opponent to do the same. We as public figures have the responsibility to set a good example for our youth” he said. This will be the second time the two candidates face off for the ward seat. The election of 2009 was decided by just 81 votes.
